Midday Reset

We can all benefit from a midday reset sometimes. As someone who has studied somatic or embodied practices for almost two decades, I am aware of how our ability to notice our physical experience at any given moment can provide access to nervous system re-regulation, a pathway for decreasing stress, and the opportunity to reconnect to the present moment.

“Midday Meditations” is my new audio meditation series designed to support you when you need it most – when you recognize that you’ve been overtaken by stress, overwhelm or impatience. In those moments, this series is here to support you. It is made up of short inquiry and somatic based practices you can use anytime to decrease stress and increase your overall well-being.

Everyone gets hijacked by urgency, overwhelming demands, and the stress encountered by unexpected changes to the day. And, you can learn to navigate these inevitable aspects of life with greater steadiness, leading to increases in mental and emotional well-being while decreasing the physiological impacts of stress on your body. Once you’ve learned these practices, you’ll be equipped with a toolbox of skills to help your nervous system return to equanimity quickly and efficiently.

The practices in this series are different from previous meditation series in that they are inquiry based and somatically based. What this means is that certain meditations will include open ended questions for you to reflect upon during the practice. Plus, it includes short practices you can use anytime, whether you are meditating or not, to decrease stress and increase your overall well-being.

The meditations in this series are embodied practices that tune you into your physical body. They will help you build a reservoir of bodily awareness that

    • facilitate regulation
    • guide decision making
    • enhance interpersonal relationships and communications
    • strengthen empathy
    • and can help inform resolution to challenges

It is normal for your nervous system to dysregulate several times a day and through the practices shared in this series you will learn to find your way back to homeostasis which leads to flexibility and resiliency

We become what we practice, and we are always practicing something so my hope is that through these meditations you learn to consciously and effectively practice what helps you reclaim presence, agency, and efficacy throughout your day.

We know we’ve healed when our actions align with our values and vision even under the same, old pressures. And best of all, as one of my favorite quotes says, “compassion is an outcome of a regulated nervous system.” So at the end of this series, I hope you feel greater alignment with your values, increased compassion, and most of all a sense of empowerment.
